Chicago Nightlife Fashion Spotlight: The Bow Tie is back. One undeniably cool trend on the uprise in Chicago nightlife is the bow tie. We aren’t just seeing it here among the hip crowd, we’re seeing it on rockstars, sports players, and music artists. We’re seeing them in all colors, and shapes from butterfly to pointy-tipped. The whole point isn’t just to look sophisticated and smart, but also to be noticed. Oh, and you’ll be sure get a few charming smiles from the ladies.

The Nerds Finally got their Revenge

It’s totally “geek chic” but it’s hip and it’s in. Mixing a bit of old with a bit of new, the old school bow tie says you’re sophisticated, but you still have an edge that craves for something exciting and new. It also states that you’ve got a sense of humor. Sure, it’s still nerdy in a way, but it’s nerdy in the way that over-sized black frame glasses made a come back. If you’re going to do it, just make sure you do it the right way. Don’t buy cheap clip-ons. Remember, we’re not trying to be actual dorks here.

Eric resolved to bridge his passion for art and fashion to help alleviate social injustices through the creation of his bow tie line The Art of EMJ. Eric joined us at our preview event at 8fifty8 Club Chicago on Saturday, August 6th and showed off one of his latest bow tie fashions.
